First Evangelical Lutheran Church El Monte, CA

First Evangelical Lutheran Church El Monte, CA is one of the many ministries that applied for and received grant money from the Pacific Southwest District Regional Mission Councils. With the support from the PSD and RMC 2, Pastor James Yue has been leading the congregation’s efforts to become a more active presence in their community. While the pandemic delayed some of their ministry plans for various outreach events, God is faithful and has been at work.

This past year on July 4th, First Lutheran church held a “BBQ and Fireworks” night, which had more than 60 people attend! This resulted in 11 of the attendees regularly attending their Sunday services. 7 of those 11 have now been Baptized into the family of God, five on Thanksgiving Sunday and two on Christmas. Another 3 transferred their membership to First Lutheran and completed confirmation classes.

On Thanksgiving Eve, First Lutheran hosted an event with more than 85 people enjoying dinner and fellowship together. In that 85, 29 people attended the event so they could get in touch with the church and learn about the saving grace of our God. On the following Sunday, some of those same people joined Faith Lutheran for their Sunday Service.

PastorJames Yue, exclaims, “The Lord is faithful, and He is still at work. Praise the Lord; we really see the Lord is doing His mighty work in our midst. To Him be the glory.”
