THANKOFFERING GRANT

 

Who is eligible? Undergraduate students who are active members at a PSD congregation and enrolled in a full-time church worker program at a Concordia University.

 

Application Deadline: June 1

 

1. Applicant must be an active member of an LCMS congregation in the PSD for at least the past two years.

2. Applicant must be an undergraduate student, enrolled full-time in a church work program at a Concordia University (LCMS).

3. Applicant must be pursuing full-time church work ministry (pre-seminary, teacher, DCE, etc.) and will take a call or enroll in seminary upon the completion of the undergraduate program.

4. This grant may be applied for up to five (5) times.

5. This grant must be applied for annually.

The Thankoffering Grant distribution will be sent directly to Concordia University’s finance office on the applicant's behalf twice a year: $500 for the fall semester and $500 for the spring semester. Applicants who are awarded grants will be notified in writing by July 1.  

 

Funds for this grant are generated from offerings given by PSD church workers at annual conferences, as well as additional district funds intended to support and encourage future church workers.

PSD CHURCH WORKER LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM

 

Who is eligible? New church workers who have undergraduate debt and are serving in a full-time, called role at a PSD congregation and/or school

 

Application Deadline: June 1

 

1. Applicant must have earned a bachelor's degree in a church worker program of the LCMS from a Concordia University.

2. Applicant must have officially accepted a call to serve in a congregation and/or school in the Pacific Southwest District and be actively serving in the district upon application and receipt of the loan repayment grant.

3. Applicant must attach the following information when applying:

   1. Copy of the most recent monthly invoice/statement that includes:

      1. Name of the borrower

      2. Loan amount

      3. Account number or Social Security Number

      4. The name and address of each lending institution

4. The church worker loan repayment grant must be applied for annually.

5. This grant may be applied for up to three (3) times.

6. Complete this application, print, sign, and return to psdworkergrants@psd-lcms.org

 

The loan repayment grant will be sent directly to the lender on the applicant's behalf. Applicants who are awarded grants will be notified in writing by July 1.  

 

The funds for this grant are made possible through the PSD Workers for the Harvest Endowment and the PSD Student Loan Repayment Grant Fund. The grant amount will vary annually based on fund investment earnings and the number of applicants. The distributed earnings will be divided evenly among the grant applicants.

PSD SEMINARY SCHOLARSHIP

 

Who is eligible? Seminary students currently attending Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne; or the Cross-Cultural Ministry Center at CUI, pursuing a rostering certification. This includes Traditional on-campus Masters of Divinity Students, Alternative Route, CMC, EIIT, CHS, SMP, and Deaconess programs.  Advanced degree programs (STM, DMin, or PhD) are not eligible.

 

Application Deadline: April 1

 

1. Applicant must be an active member of an LCMS congregation in the PSD for at least the past two years.

2. This grant may be applied for up to four (4) times.

3. This grant must be applied for annually.

Seminary District Financial Aid Application

 

Applicants who are awarded grants will be notified by writing by July 1. PSD Seminary Scholarships are distributed in two equal installments during the year and sent directly to the indicated institution in the applicant’s name.
