Family Sundays

First Lutheran & Circle of Love Preschool, Manhattan Beach, CA

National Lutheran Schools Week was launched at First Lutheran - Manhattan Beach, CA with a wonderful worship service on January 22nd! This was part of their Family Sunday series, which are services designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and simple in its teaching and proclamation for the families and children, many of whom know little to nothing about Jesus, the Bible, and the faith. A classroom from their preschool also blesses the service with song and helping with the Offering. A time of connection and activities follow every Family Sunday service where the congregation can connect with school families and parents can connect with each other.

Pastor Bart Loos shares, “On Sunday, January 22nd, God blessed our worship with two Baptisms, both from our preschool community! We not only had the classroom children sing, but also a total of 36 children participated in the service! All children were able to sit front and center at the altar for the family message and to witness the Baptisms, all to learn about Jesus. We also welcomed two new members into the First Lutheran family, one of whom is one of our Circle of Love teachers. We are grateful for the united effort of our church and school leadership for the sake of the Gospel!”

The music ministry at First Lutheran & Circle of Love is crucial to our outreach, witness, and teaching. This is exhibited greatly on their Family Sundays when the kids sing because it represents several weeks of practice and preparation led by their music ministry. “We are all blessed at the end of our service when we sing our theme song, ‘Peace of Christ,’ written by our very own Music Director.”

The church and preschool’s united theme for the 2022-2023 school year is: LIVING in Peace. LIVING in Gratitude. ONE in Christ!

This theme is based on Colossians 3:15, “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”

“We recite this theme and theme verse every school chapel and at every Family Sunday. Children and the congregation have it memorized from our intentional and fun recitation!”

“Truly we are living out this theme this year and what a blessing this year has been so far. We look forward to the coming months of this school year and we thank God for His work in and through us here at First Lutheran Church & Circle of Love Preschool in Manhattan Beach!”

Enable more stories of transformed lives through Jesus

Untold thousands are still in darkness, lost like “sheep that have gone astray”. But this is exactly the mission our Lord has created His Church for – reaching the lost for Jesus’ sake in as many ways as necessary. This is the purpose for which our 300 churches and 150 schools were founded in their many contexts. And “the fields are ripe for the harvest” right now!

Your gifts are critical and enable us to continue and expand our shared work together, fulfilling the PSD mission of effectively resourcing congregations and schools for transforming lives and making the Great Commission REAL!
