Baptisms at St. Paul's Lutheran

God is at work at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in Orange, CA, this past spring as twenty-four individuals (21 children and 3 adults) had their lives made new as they received the gift of Holy Baptism.
St. Paul's Lutheran School serves students from Infant Care through 8th grade and is a ministry of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to educate children, nurture their faith, and equip them to share the Gospel of Christ.
Centered on Christ's Great Commission - "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them..." (Matthew 28:19) - faculty, pastors, and families committed to intentionally teach the meaning and promise of Baptism across every grade level. Through age-appropriate lessons, classroom discussions, chapel messages, parent resources and visible celebrations, students gained a deeper understanding that Baptism is not simply a tradition but God's gracious work through water and the Word.
What began as a schoolwide emphasis quickly resulted into something much greater - a visible movement of the Holy Spirit within the church and school community. God graciously reminded them what their mission to their school community truly looks like, preparing students not only for academic success but for lives to be rooted in Christ.
One of the most beautiful moments occurred during their chapel services when students witnessed their classmates, siblings, and even other adults from their community get baptized before the entire school. Younger students watched in awe. Middle school students reflected deeply on their own identity in Christ. Families began asking questions, having faith conversations at home and reconnecting with the promises God makes in Baptism.
This incredible initiative perfectly reflected their 2025-2026 School Theme, Made New, from Isaiah 43:19 as students, faculty and families witnessed God making lives new through the waters of Baptism.
Together with St. Paul's Church and School leadership team - Rev. Dr. Larry Stoterau (Transitional Interim Senior Pastor), Deryl Maxwell (Principal), and Heidi de la Motte (Preschool Director) - we rejoice and praise God for His continuous work in our Lutheran churches and schools! By His grace, the story is still being written.
